Join Us For BLACK PRESS IN MINNESOTA: Telling Our Own Stories Opening Reception.
Portrait Photography and the Black Press historically have served to present authentic and positive images and narratives about Black people and the community.
The MAAHMG Youth Curators spent the summer learning photography skills and took portraits of community members for the exhibition, BLACK PRESS IN MINNESOTA: Telling Our Own Stories. They learned research, writing, communication and design skills to curate a history exhibition about the Black press in Minnesota. They also had guest speakers Tracey Williams-Dillard, CEO and Publisher of the Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder, and Daniel Bergin of TPT television, share their experience with them.
Come check out their exhibition and support our youth! The event is free and open to the public. Free parking in the ramp attached to the building.
