This is a pop-up exhibit featuring the history of some iconic Black fashion designers from Ann Lowe to Dapper Dan. The exhibit will feature clothing by local emerging fashion designers including Troe Williams of Vandalism Designs; Alexis Brazil of the Lexurie Collection; Kendall Ray of KD Designs; and Rammy Mohamed of Ramadhan Designs. There will also be ROX Jewelry by Robyne Robinson, jewelry designer, arts consultant and former tv anchor; and photographs by Charles Chamblis from Twin Cities fashion shows popular in the 1980s and a few items from the legendary style trendsetter Prince. The exhibit is curated by Tina Burnside, Cofounder and Curator at MAAHMG; Natalie Morrow, CEO and Founder at Black Fashion Week MN; and Hannah Novillo Erickson, 3D Objects Associate Curator at the Minnesota Historical Society (MNHS).
